In June, the city of Gdynia at the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea purchased a BeachTech Marina beach cleaning machine. This investment for a beach cleaner by the service contractor "Czysta Plaza"was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund in Poland (EFRE).
The Regional Development Fund for the region of Pomerania in Poland, the "Activity of Regional Operational Programme for Pomorskie Voivodship", includes EU support from the years 2007 to 2013 and has about 1.3 billion Euros in total available. The EU support by the EFRE amounts to 885 million Euros.
Intention of the EU investment.
This operational regional programme is the first comprehensive development programme of the region with a financially stable background. Its strategic goal is to strengthen the power to compete, the social solidarity and the integration of this region. Additionally, the realisation of its unique economic and cultural potential will be boosted along with ensuring ecologic sustainability while using natural resources. The gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to rise by 3.4% and more than 7000 new jobs shall be created.
Beach cleaning for attractive tourism.
A key aspect of the programme is to make the local attractions even more appealing for tourists. Professionally cleaned beaches definitely help accomplish that goal. This is how the company "Czysta Plaza" applied for the support and immediately got approval.
Many European countries are benefitting from these regional development programmes. For more details, please try: http://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/country/prordn/index_en.cfm
