14 BeachTech for Algeria - hand over and technical training.
Big step for BeachTech: 14 beach cleaning machines were purchased by the Agence pour la Promotion et la Protection du Littoral Algérois in January and brought into service to clean beaches in Algiers
The 1200 km long Mediterranean coast and the world's largest desert constitute the best foundations for successful tourism which is already starting to grow. Since 2003 the number of tourists increased from a little over one million to 1.6 million in the year 2006, 6-700 000 of them being Europeans.
The government aims at making the touristy potential of this country better known around the globe. Many building projects have already been decided on, foreign investments are being boosted, state-run hotels are being privatized.
Our customer, the APPL, is a public enterprise with industrial and commercial character, founded in 1998 by the municipality of Algiers. Their objectives are to market, protect and enhance the status of the 57 communities of the province of Algiers. These activities shall be expanded to the entire coastal area in the upcoming years. The first step of the pilot project "beach cleaning" resulted in the purchase of 4 BeachTech Marina and 10 BeachTech Sweepy hydro machines. These were placed at the disposal of the communities of Zeralda, Staoueli, Herraoua and Borj El Kiffan as an addition to the hitherto manual cleaning. Some more communities will be given BeachTech Sweepy hydro machines. In March – as soon as the weather conditions permit – the "real" beach cleaning will begin.
