Take off for beach cleaning in Turkey!
During the meeting of the Association of Professional Hotel Managers in November 2009, beach cleaning was one of the main subjects. BeachTech got to explain about the use of beach cleaning equipment.
Turkey is not just a main holiday travel spot for Germans; it is number 7 out of the top 10 hot spots for holiday travel for tourists around the world. Every year, new holiday travellers’ from all nations arrive so did over 27 million tourists in 2008! Among the 10 hot spots of holiday countries around the world, Turkey lists on #7. The growth of tourism to Turkey is rising and in the years to come enormous increase in tourism revenue is expected.
The climb to the top has not always been easy – and even though the majority of tourists are thrilled and impressed by the hospitality they experience at a 5 star hotel with fair prices, the desire for more economically based holiday packages are still in demand. Turkey's goal of providing these economic options is based on the desire to be even more competitive on an international level. With the addition of new hotels, the renovation of others and major upgrades to Turkey’s complete infrastructure, this goal is becoming reality. With all the upgrades in place, Turkey now believes it is the time to focus on their beaches, making them safe, clean and perfect for the tourist. This is where BeachTech really shines!
Turkey features a unique coastline of 4,500 km. Sun seeking beach lovers can choose from a multitude of different coastal regions and beach sceneries. However, the phenomenon of increasing beach pollution cannot either be ignored, just like the growing awareness and sensitivity of the tourists in this respect. Several studies point to a worldwide increase in the number of complaints from travellers around the world concerning clean beaches.
As a result, at this year's POYD (Association of Professional Hotel Managers) meeting, beach cleaning was one of the main subjects discussed. The many members – hotel managers from the Antalya region – use this meeting as a platform for exchanging job-related experiences, trends, innovations and plans for the future. Last November, they provided BeachTech the opportunity to explain about the increasing beach pollution, its causes and effects on the environment as well as on the tourism industry, and to provide solutions for them using the BeachTech beach cleaning machines.
For the past couple of years there have been a few BeachTech machines in operation in Turkey, but not enough to do the job needed. Now that the desire is to increase the necessity of mechanical beach cleaning in order to reach higher quality standards on beaches, Turkey is well on its way to continued growth in tourism, as well as to meet the increasing expectations and demands of the global tourist.
Mr Fikri Ertem is BeachTech's ambitious new partner in Turkey and has an optimistic outlook on the future of Turkish beaches and its tourism industry.
